Can You Get a Scholarship While Pregnant?

Yes, you can get a scholarship while pregnant. In fact, some scholarships are specifically for women who are expecting or already have children. Many organizations recognize the unique challenges you face and want to support you in continuing your education. These scholarships are designed to ease the financial burden so you can focus on your academic goals.

Our Scholarship for Pregnant Moms

At American Adoptions, we offer scholarships to help birth moms and birth fathers continue their education. It can be used to cover the cost of tuition or supplies at your school of choice. To be eligible for consideration, your adoption must be legally finalized. We award scholarships twice a year — once for the fall semester and once for the spring.

If you’re selected as a recipient, you can renew your scholarship for up to eight semesters. There are two requirements for renewal:

  • Maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA

  • Reapply before each semester’s deadline and submit copies of your grade card, class schedule and tuition invoice

It's important to note that while we do provide scholarships, they are not guaranteed. The number and amount of scholarships varies depending on the number of applicants.

“I never thought I’d go to college. Once I got pregnant and went through the whole adoption process, I realized I have things that need to do and can do now. A year and a half down the line, I added on fashion merchandising, so now I’m getting two degrees and am going to school for even longer. That’s also nice, knowing that the scholarship is still going to be there no matter how long I’m going to school.” –Samantha, birth mother
