What Are Adoptive Parent Profiles? [Find a Family for Your Baby]
Because you are in control of the adoption process, you get to choose who will raise your baby. We work with amazing adoptive families from all backgrounds from all over the country, which means we can help you find the perfect family for your baby. We have hundreds of adoption profiles for you to browse through to simplify the selection process.
You love your baby, yet you may not be able to offer them the future you envision. Through adoption, you can find the perfect family to share your aspirations for your baby. They can grow up in a safe, nurturing environment and become the person they are meant to be.
If you’re ready to start the adoption process, you can browse adoption profiles online or fill out our form for more information.
What Is an Adoption Profile?
Adoption profiles act as introductions to adoptive parents. They often contain letters, photos and personal information about each person in the family. You can learn things like:
-
Where they live
-
What they do for work
-
What traditions they embrace
-
How many children they have
-
What their pets are like
At American Adoptions of Colorado, we also require each family to create a video profile with us. These three- to four-minute videos give you a snapshot of each parent’s life. You can see how the couples interact together, what their houses look like and what hobbies they enjoy. In a way, these videos allow you to “meet” the adoptive family before you even talk face-to-face.
How to Select the Right Family for Your Baby
Adoption doesn’t mean you’re “giving up” or “walking away” from your child. Rather, you’re making the selfless decision to give them a brighter future. And if you place your baby for adoption with an agency like ours, you get to choose their adoptive family. This allows you to handpick parents who will love and cherish your baby just like you do.
Your adoption specialist can help you determine what you’re looking for in an adoptive family. While creating your adoption plan (which is the second step in the process), you can outline what beliefs and values are important to you. For instance, you might prefer a certain parenting style or want the family to also live in Colorado.
Your adoption specialist can use this information to compile adoption profiles for you to look through. Alternatively, you can look at online adoption profiles on your own at any time.
We recommend sorting these adoption profiles into “yes,” “no” and “maybe” piles to help you stay organized. If none of the adoption profiles resonate with you, then that’s okay. You’ll be able to view as many as you need to make a final decision.
3 Criteria You Can Use to Search Adoption Profiles
There are many different criteria you can use to determine what kind of adoptive family you want for your baby. For instance, you can narrow down your options by lifestyle, culture, race, political affiliation and more. Your adoption specialist can curate a selection of adoption profile samples for you according to your wishes.
On our website, you can search for adoptive families by three categories:
1. Family Type
If you’re looking for a straight or LGBTQ couple for your baby, you can search for adoptive parent profiles by type. Many of these families are unable to have children of their own and are incredibly thankful to be considered for the greatest gift. They have a lot of love to share with a new family member.
We typically work with gay and straight couples who have been married for at least two years. However, there are some single parents who want to give a baby their undivided attention. You may want to choose a hopeful mother or father who had a wonderful childhood and wants to give your baby a similar experience.
2. Region
Depending on your preferences for your baby, you may want the family to live in a specific area. For instance, do you want your child to grow up near mountains? You can narrow down your search to states that the Sierra Nevada, Appalachian Mountains and Rocky Mountains run through.
Another reason you might want to search by region is because of in-person visits. If you choose an open adoption, you can maintain contact with your baby and their adoptive family even after the process is finalized. Scheduling visits and being there for milestones would be easier if the adoptive family also lives in Colorado
3. Whether They Already Have Kids
You can view online adoption profiles of families with or without children. You might want your child to have close siblings just like you do, or maybe you want your baby to be the adoptive couple’s main priority.
Consider the dynamics of families with varying numbers of children. An adoptive couple with one or two kids might provide a lively, socially enriching environment for your baby to grow up in. On the other hand, an adoptive couple without children may offer different resources or a higher level of attention. It all depends on what you feel is best for your baby.
